Suspect Nabbed For Arson In Fire At Tennis Center In East Hampton

An East Hampton man has been charged with arson for allegedly starting a fire that caused damage to the East Hampton Indoor Tennis facility.

Scott A. McKallip, 56, was arrested on Saturday, April 27, for the Dec. 22, 2018, fire at the facility, said East Hampton Town police.

The fire started around 5 a.m. at the building located on Daniel's Hole Road. An automatic fire alarm alerted the fire department, which found heavy smoke in the building but was quickly doused with the help of a sprinkler system.

McKalip was arrested following an unrelated larceny arrest on Saturday, police said.

He had previously been charged for violating an order of protection resulting from incidents involving the owner of the facility, police added.
